The new screenshots

LOVE previewed four images on October 2. Unlike the action shots in earlier batches, these are quiet character moments.

The diner. Two images show Jason and Lucia facing each other across a diner booth, with a large bag beside them. What is in the bag is not explained.

The pool table. The pair play pool in what looks like a biker bar. See pool in GTA 6.

The night out. Both are dressed up, with Jason in bike leathers.

The portrait. A black-and-white shot of the two in everyday clothes: Jason in a white vest, Lucia in a leopard-print crop top.

A fifth screenshot appears in the printed magazine and was shared on October 5. It is a wider version of the pool-table shot: Jason leans over the table while Lucia stands beside him holding a cue.

Who Rockstar put forward

• Aaron Garbut, head of development at Rockstar North
• Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North
• Rupert Humphries, senior vice president of narrative
• Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern and Alexa D’Agostino, writers on the game

Game Informer’s cover story a week earlier focused on the map, weather and wildlife. This one is about the story and the people in it.

What Rockstar said about Lucia

Lucia is the driven half of the pair. The writers describe her as someone who wants a better life and will not let obstacles stop her from getting it.

Writer Alexa D’Agostino said she drew on women she knows when writing Lucia, including her own mother, an immigrant who grew up close to where Lucia is from. Lucia’s hometown is Liberty City, which matches her official profile.

D’Agostino also said she hopes Lucia can stand alongside Rockstar’s best-known leads, such as Niko Bellic and Arthur Morgan.

Her colleague Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern said the actress who plays Lucia brought a lot to the character. Rockstar has still not named any of the cast.

What Rockstar said about Jason

Jason is the opposite kind of character. Where Lucia pushes forward, Jason reacts. The interview describes him as someone whose circumstances keep making his decisions for him.

Nelson went into far more detail on how the game plays in his full IGN interview.

Their relationship

The writers wanted both leads to be tough and vulnerable at once, capable of being right or wrong, and able to learn from each other. Outlets covering the interview describe the story as Rockstar’s take on a Bonnie and Clyde tale.

Raul, the mentor

The interview also touches on Raul Bautista, the veteran bank robber from Trailer 2. The writers describe him as the one with the local and criminal knowledge that Jason and Lucia lack when they arrive in Vice City.

How Rockstar researched Florida

Aaron Garbut described the research behind Leonida: a drive from Miami to Key West, time spent with locals, police officers and gang members, and a helicopter shoot that ended above a Beyoncé concert. We cover it in full in How Rockstar researched Florida for GTA 6.

A modest American Dream

The most striking point is how small the pair’s ambitions are. Humphries says their version of the American Dream is not wealth or power. It is a home for the family and their debts paid off.

For a series known for excess, that is a notable change of tone.

Leonida, and how real it is meant to be

Humphries describes the state as a “pressure cooker for all kinds of insanity”. The team says the world has to be louder and more satirical than real life, or players might as well go outside.

• Realism is used selectively. Rockstar says it leans on realism where it deepens immersion and drops it where it would get in the player’s way.
• Compared with Red Dead Redemption 2. Humphries calls that game a historical recreation. GTA 6 uses many of the same tools, pushed toward satire.
• A dense world. The team says nobody the player meets is meant to feel like an extra, after about a decade of building the world.

What is new, and what we already knew

Topic	Already known	New from LOVE
Lucia’s background	Grew up in Liberty City, taught to fight by her father	How the writers approached her, and what inspired her
Jason	Ex-Army, working for drug runners in the Keys	Written as reactive, shaped by circumstances
The story	A conspiracy across Leonida	Framed around a modest goal: home, family, debts
The world	Six regions, satirical tone	Rockstar’s own explanation of how far it pushes realism
Cast	Not announced	Still not announced

The Pulp Fiction comparison

Fans on Reddit have compared the diner screenshots to the diner scene in Pulp Fiction, where a couple sit in a booth before a robbery. That is a fan theory. Rockstar has not said the scene is a reference, and nothing confirms what happens in it.

Why a fashion magazine?

LOVE is a fashion and culture title, not a gaming outlet. Rockstar has spread its coverage widely this autumn: a Netflix premiere for the Extended Look, Game Informer for the technical detail, and now a fashion magazine for the characters. In the same week the Miami Heat announced they will play as Vice City on the eve of launch.

Can you still buy it?

The issue reached newsstands on October 5 at €25. The Jason and Lucia cover sold out through distributor KD Presse within minutes of pre-orders opening, so finding that cover now may be difficult.

What it does not tell us

• No new gameplay systems or mission details.
• No change to the release date, which is still November 19, 2026.
• No voice cast.
