The 30-second version
  • Lucia Caminos is one of GTA 6’s two playable protagonists, alongside Jason Duval, and the first written, voiced female lead in a Grand Theft Auto game.
  • GTA 6’s Lucia is an ex-con, and Rockstar’s official profile says fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary.
  • GTA 6 introduced Lucia in its first trailer in December 2023, and Rockstar has not announced who voices her.

Lucia Caminos is the first written, voiced female lead in a Grand Theft Auto game. The earliest games let players pick a female character, but only as a silent avatar. When Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto VI, the very first face we met wasn’t a wisecracking criminal or a washed-up gangster — it was Lucia, sitting in a prison interview room.

She’s the series’ first written, voiced female lead. Here’s everything the trailers have actually shown us about Lucia Caminos — her story so far, her partnership with Jason Duval, and the questions Rockstar is still keeping to itself.

Who is Lucia Caminos?

Lucia Caminos is one of the two playable protagonists of GTA 6, alongside Jason Duval. Rockstar introduced her in the very first trailer (December 4, 2023), making her the public face of the game from day one — a deliberate choice, and a historic one. No GTA game has had a written female lead before.

What we know about her, strictly from what Rockstar has shown:

  • She’s an ex-con. Trailer 1 opens with Lucia inside the Leonida Penitentiary, being interviewed.
  • She’s a fighter — literally. Rockstar’s profile says her father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk. This isn’t a cutscene hobby; it’s presented as part of who she is.
  • She’s half of a criminal duo. Rockstar’s official story setup pairs her with Jason Duval: an easy score goes wrong, and the two find themselves pulled into a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida.

That’s the confirmed record. Her age, the details of her conviction and how she met Jason are things Rockstar hasn’t told us yet, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

What Rockstar’s official profile says

Rockstar’s official character profile fills in Lucia’s past. Her father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk, and fighting for her family is what landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary — sheer luck got her out. She is fresh out of prison and committed to her plan: the good life her mother has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City. Rockstar adds that a life with Jason could be her way out. In October 2026, Rockstar’s writers told LOVE Magazine more about how the two were written.

What the trailers revealed about Lucia

Trailer 1: the introduction (December 2023)

Lucia’s first appearance is brief. In under ten seconds, Trailer 1 tells us: she’s in prison, she’s being asked about herself, and she’s not intimidated by any of it.

The rest of Trailer 1 keeps her mostly in the background, letting the world of Leonida take center stage.

Trailer 2: release and reinvention (May 2025)

Trailer 2 is where Lucia becomes a person rather than a symbol. It shows Jason picking her up from the Leonida Penitentiary — she’s getting out. What follows is the clearest look at her life on the outside: reuniting with Jason, navigating the criminal underworld of Leonida.

An Extended Look: Lucia in action (August 2026)

The Extended Look (August 27, 2026) shows Lucia mid-mission, including driving the getaway with Raul Bautista. The footage shows her trading the lead with Jason during heists, making calls under pressure, and holding her own in firefights. If there was any lingering doubt that she’s a full co-protagonist rather than a secondary character, the Extended Look ended it.

Lucia’s story so far

Piecing together only what Rockstar has officially shown, Lucia’s arc looks like this:

Chapter What we know
Before the trailers Rockstar’s profile says fighting for her family landed Lucia in the Leonida Penitentiary. No further details are given.
Trailer 1 She’s in prison, being interviewed about her life.
Trailer 2 Jason picks her up from prison. She re-enters Leonida’s criminal world and begins pulling scores with Jason.
The setup Per Rockstar’s official synopsis: “an easy score goes wrong,” and Lucia and Jason end up “on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida.”

The through-line is classic GTA with a new center of gravity: a protagonist trying to stay out of the system while the system — and her own choices — keep pulling her back in.

Lucia and Jason: the partnership

Rockstar is selling Jason and Lucia as a duo in the Bonnie-and-Clyde mold, and the trailers back it up. Their dynamic, as shown in the trailers and the Extended Look:

  • It’s a partnership of equals. The Extended Look shows control passing between them mid-mission. Neither is the “main” character in gameplay terms.
  • They complement each other. Jason is the ex-soldier — disciplined, connected to the Keys’ underworld through work. Lucia is the ex-con with nothing to lose and a fighter’s instincts. Rockstar’s own line about Jason — that meeting Lucia “could be the best or worst thing to ever happen to him” — suggests the relationship is the engine of the story.
  • Trust is the theme. Rockstar’s synopsis ends on it: “forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”

What we still don’t know about Lucia

Rockstar is holding back plenty. Here’s what’s still unconfirmed, stated plainly so you know what’s fact and what’s guesswork:

  • Her voice actress. Rockstar hasn’t announced who plays Lucia. Names online are rumors; see the FAQ below. Anyone claiming to know is working from rumors, not announcements.
  • The details of her conviction. Rockstar says only that fighting for her family put her in prison.
  • More about her family. Rockstar mentions her father, her mother and their time in Liberty City, but little else.
  • Which missions lock switching. Rockstar has explained how switching works: freely outside missions, while some missions keep you as one of them or switch for you. It has not said which. See GTA 6 relationship system.
  • Whether both protagonists survive the story. GTA stories don’t always end happily for everyone. Rockstar isn’t saying.
  • Whether the GTA 6 Lucia leak is real. A leaked video posted on October 11, 2026 is reported to show Lucia in a stunt side activity. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed it, so we label it Reported and treat nothing in it as fact. See the GTA 6 Lucia leak video explained.

For the wider plot, see GTA 6 story.

Is Lucia the GTA 6 cover girl?

Lucia is at the top of the GTA 6 cover with Jason. The woman fans call the “cover girl” is someone else: the unnamed woman on the left holding a can. See GTA 6 screenshots and official art.

Lucia in official screenshots

Rockstar has released ten official screenshots of Lucia: six with Trailer 2 in May 2025 and four more on August 31, 2026. All ten appear on this page. For every official GTA 6 screenshot, see our screenshots page.

The name fans give most often is Manni L. Perez, a New York actress. That is a rumor, not confirmed. See GTA 6 voice actors and cast.

Rockstar has since explained that the romance between them is optional and shaped by the player, and that they stay partners either way. See GTA 6 relationship system.
